The 'Castle Trail' selection of eleven of the world's most unique Scottish castles ranging from the fairy tale magic of Craigievar, to the rugged splendour of Kildrummy Castle, ruins of a 13th century stone courtyard castle, only 10 minutes walk from Kildrummy Inn, to the elegant timelessness of the country house grandeur of Leith Hall.

Kildrummy Castle Garden Trust located at the foot of the medieval Kildrummy Castle is a must for those interested in botany and those of us just interested in a quiet stroll in beautiful surroundings.

For those interested in fly fishing or just for something new to try, the river Don is a great salmon and sea trout river which also boasts some of the best brown trout fishing in Scotland too. Mossat Trout Fishery (Owner Steve Parkinson) is located less than 3 miles from the Kildrummy Inn. Tuition is available for those novice fly fishers, with the hire of tackle if necessary.

The surrounding Kildrummy estate offers a wide range of activities. Contact the ghillie Mr A Ogilvie on 019755 71208 to book fishing on the river Don.

Huntly, located 14 miles north, offers some good shopping and Huntly Castle.

There are numerous golf courses available to play in the Donside/Deeside area.

Pony trekking, approximately 9 miles away, can be arranged on request.

Cycling is an excellent way to explore the local area. Again Kildrummy Inn provides an excellent base for this. We can provide a secure lock up for your bicycles during the twilight hours and can also provide an area for you to carry out maintenance and clean your cycles.
