About Our Food!
Here at the Kildrummy Inn we pride ourselves with the fact that we use as many local suppliers & as much local produce as possible.
Located within the heart of the Grampian Highlands the Inn has an excellent reputation for its food. Customers from the local community & surrounding areas regularly visit throughout the year, spring, summer, autumn & winter. At weekends diners frequently travel longer distances to sample our food & hospitality.
During the summer months we also have allot of tourists staying & dining predominately from Europe, America, Canada, Asia & neighbouring England!
As well as our A la Carte evening meal service & roast Sunday lunches we also cater for a wide range of events & special occasions. Coach parties, corporate events, shooting parties, business lunches, high teas, weddings, christenings & funerals as well as an ever increasing amount of birthdays and wedding anniversaries. You name it! We can cater for it!
The menu offers more of a traditional style of fare, which you would expect from our countryside location. A wide range of appetisers will whet your appetite. Main courses feature delicious mouth watering steaks and sauces as well as freshly prepared fish, chicken, lamb & pork dishes. A children's menu is also on offer however half portions of the main choices are available on request where possible.
Although not featuring on the menu we do cater for vegetarians and will cater for other specific dietary requirements as long as advance notice is given.

Meat
Kildrummy Inn is located in the heart of Aberdeen Angus Country. Aberdeen Angus steaks are widely recognised as the best eating steak you can get and the restaurant is know for it’s wonderful Aberdeen Angus steaks.
Multi award-winning butcher from Huntly, Forbes Raeburn & Sons supply the Inn with butchered meat. Member of the Guild Of Quality Butchers. Raeburn's supply us with certified Aberdeen Angus heard which is hung for 21 days thus providing excellent quality fillet, sirloin & rib eye steaks. As well as beef Raeburn's provide the Inn with pork, lamb, gammon, bacon & their own haggis & black pudding for our menu.
Venison when available is supplied from the local butcher.
Roe deer is widely renowned for providing the best eating and are in plentiful supply from within the Grampian Highlands.
Fruit & Vegetables
Fresh fruit and vegetables are provided from our supplier in Ballater. When seasons allow we also receive locally grown organic vegetables & potatoes as well as a plentiful supply of local free-range eggs. We also purchase from Alford farmers market when it runs on the last Saturday of the month.
Fish & seafood:
Our menu also incorporates a healthy selection of fish dishes. Naturally salmon and trout are our main sellers. However these are complimented with halibut, haddock, scampi & prawn dishes as well as some of Darren's specials that appear regularly such as grilled red snapper and seared tuna steak. Fresh fish is supplied by M&J seafood.

Homemade soup of the day
Succulent smoked Deeside pheasant breast set upon a bed dressed mixed leaves finished with caramelised red onion chutney.
Sun-blushed tomato, red onion & mozzarella cheese bound in a light herb & olive oil dressing set aside dressed leaf & garnished with a spring of fresh basil.
Smoked haggis set upon a salad of mixed leaf, cherry tomatoes & red onion. Topped with Mark’s choice of chutney.
Crayfish tails simply drizzled with a lemon & citrus dressing on mixed leaf simply finished with a wedge of lemon.
Deep fried haggis served around a crown of mixed leaf drizzled with a honey, mustard & whisky dressing
Piri Piri chicken strips coated in a spicy breadcrumb set upon a bed of dressed leaves with cherry tomatoes & drizzled with a lime coriander & chilli dressing.
Warm roasted goat’s cheese & red pepper cheesecake set upon a bed of dressed leaves served with a mixed roasted pepper confit.
Cured rolled salmon & crayfish tails bound in a honey mustard & dill sauce accompanied with dressed leaf & lemon.
Venison & game pate served atop dressed mixed leaf with oatcakes.
A hearty bowl of steamed mussels in a lemongrass, ginger & coconut sauce accompanied with fresh brown bread.

Steamed Halibut fillet set upon a crown of cracked black pepper & spring onion mash gently masked with a tomato & fresh basil cream sauce.
Poached fillet of Scottish salmon with a fresh dill, lemon & white wine sauce.
Double cod loin fillet poached & smothered with thick mornay sauce.
Monkfish & salmon kebab skewered & grilled set aside a timbale of long grain & wild rice with chilli masked with a creamy massala sauce.
Pan cooked tiger prawns in a rich Tuscan style sauce of tomato, onions, red peppers, garlic & cream accompanied with a long grain & wild rice timbale.
Double lamb loin fillet seared on the griddle, set upon cracked black pepper
& garlic mash simply topped with fresh rosemary.
12oz of fat free lamb heaven!
Slow cooked belly of pork set upon cracked black pepper mash & masked with a honey, wholegrain mustard & rosemary jus.
21 day hung Aberdeen Angus griddled Fillet steak garni cooked to your liking served with onion rings, grilled tomato & mushrooms
21 day hung Aberdeen Angus Griddled ribeye steak cooked to your liking topped with king tiger prawns & garlic butter
Roasted duck breast topped with a redcurrant, red wine & juniper berry jus.
French trimmed chicken breast fillet topped with a wild highland mushroom & fresh tarragon sauce.
5 Scottish Lamb cutlets griddled & stacked, served with sautéed red onion
rings & a charred tomato.
Slow roasted half roast duckling drenched in an orange, cranberry & chilli sauce.
Chicken Italienne. Breast of chicken poached then masked with a pancetta, rosemary, garlic &tomato cream sauce.

The restaurant is open every evening except Tuesdays.

Special dining occasions:
For any occasion we can add that special touch to your meal. Be it a wedding anniversary, birthday, or you just want to surprise that special person. Let us know when booking (48hrs notice required) & we can personally decorate and add that special touch to your table.
In doing this we use some of our own personal items and decorations therefore ensuring that a unique & personal touch is provided for you & your guest(s).

Inn & Restaurant Children’s Policy.
We welcome well behaved children & their parents.
Please remember that Kildrummy Inn is a licenced premises & an adult environment.
Table reservations which include children under 14 years old will be shown straight to their table as our licence does not allow children under 14 in the bar area.
Children should be supervised at all time by parents/guardians & are not permitted to run around, play or disturb other diners in the restaurant.
Please be aware staff carry hot plates, food & liquids are we will not be held liable for any injury to children who are not behaving or supervised.
Tables are for food & beverages. Cars, toys, pens, crayons or any other items that may scratch or mark the wooden tables, wall paper or fixtures & fittings are strictly prohibited.
The Inn is over 150 years old and space is restricted in some areas. Therefore prams & buggy’s should not be brought into the bar or restaurant dining areas.
The porch area at the front of the Inn is a designated adult only dining area.
