From Edinburgh & Glasgow:
This is our favourite route to head up from either of the 2 cities. The most scenic & enjoyable for us.
From Glasgow take the M80 then A80 to join the M9 towards Stirling.
From Edinburgh take the A8 to the Newbridge junction then the M9 to Falkirk & Stirling.
From both start points you now continue up the M9 from Stirling & then A9 to Perth. At Broxden roundabout take the 2nd exit & follow the A93 through Perth, Old Scone, Guildtown & on to Blairgowrie.(Blairgowrie is a nice place to stop for a break some nice tearooms & good scones!)
Head through Blairgowrie & continue on the A93 (you will pick up signs for Glenshee) through Bridge of Cally, then spittal of Glenshee over the top the mountain & into Braemar.
Continue through Braemar still on at A93 till you get to the B976 turn off just before Crathie & the entrance to Balmoral Estate. Turn left onto the B976 & continue to Gairnshiel lodge, Take a left at Gairnshiel lodge onto A939. (You will got over a steep humpback bridge over the river Gairn)
Continue over the top of the hills & down the other side where you will hit a T junction on to the A944. Take a right at this junction & head through Roughpark, Strathdon, Glenbuchat, Glenkindie & finally past Kildrummy Castle & Gardens to Kildrummy Inn!
From both start points you should get to Kildrummy Inn, in around 3½ hours.
